Segments Chinese text into words for analysis
ACTS was developed to fill the gap in Chinese full-text retrieval by applying partial syntactic analysis. It uses a dictionary-based approach for segmentation, resolves ambiguities in syntactic categories, and applies grammar rules to combine segments into compound and complex words for indexing purposes. ACTS is particularly important for literature published in Chinese, where text segmentation is crucial for understanding the content. The tool is applied to Chinese texts because they do not have obvious word boundaries such as spaces and punctuations, so this tool provides for text segmentation to divide Chinese texts automatically into words
