Mind-mapping reference manager for academic writing
Docear is an open-source software that combines mind mapping, reference management, and PDF annotation. Docear integrates with JabRef, a BibTeX-based reference manager, for handling citations and bibliography. Its primary feature is the mind-mapping interface, which allows users to visually organize research topics, ideas, and references. With Docear, users can sort documents into categories, sort annotations (comments, bookmarks, and highlighted text from PDFs) into categories, sort annotations within PDFs and view multiple annotations of multiple documents, in multiple categories at once.It enables users to create their own papers, assignments, theses, etc., directly in Docear, and to copy annotations and references from their collection into a draft. A recommender system that helps users to discover new literature. Docear recommends papers which are free, in full-text, instantly to download, and tailored to users' information needs.
