The Platform for Automated extraction of animal Disease Information from the web (PADI-web) is an automated bio-surveillance system devoted to online news source monitoring for the detection of emerging/new animal infectious diseases. The goal of PADI-web is to use this unofficial information from online news as a complementary addition to official health monitoring sources for the detection of emerging animal infectious diseases and the extraction of outbreak information such as diseases, sates, symptoms, hosts and locations) PADI-web pipeline converges into a set of outputs that are of use for the end-users such as providing email notifications and summaries to users for transparent and easily accessible updates, visualizing automatically extracted data through histograms, pie charts, and other plots. It also consolidates data that includes automated reports and visualizations to follow up on new data.
