Google NotebookLM is a retrieval-augmented generative (RAG) AI platform used as the principal tool for data extraction in systematic reviews. It confines generative responses to user-uploaded source documents, supports multi-PDF upload, full-text processing of tables and figures, and in-source citation, and was also used for RAND/UCLA consensus statement generation.

Systematic Review Facility (SyRF) is a free online app for performing systematic and meta-analysis of preclinical studies/animal studies. The SyRF app has in-built tools such as a search tool that automatically updates your review when new papers are published. It employs machine learning to assist screening of research papers. It supports automatic annotation that helps users identify key information for quality assessment of studies. The app also automatically assesses the risk of bias in studies. However, data extraction is conducted manually by two independent reviewers. The app uses dedicated external meta-analysis tool to perform meta-analyses and creates visualization of results. Automated data retrieval with a pre-defined search string has been enabled for PubMed in the current version of the app and there are plans to extend this feature across additional databases. Additionally, the app has a deduplication function that automatically removes duplicates by comparing PubMed identification numbers as new records are retrieved, with plans to extend this feature across additional databases
